Located in

Arthur M. Matthews, Jr., MD is a part of Urology Associates and practices in Gulfport, MS, with an office next to the Singing River Gulfport Hospital.

Dr. Matthews is a south Mississippi native, and earned a BS degree from Mississippi State University, a MD degree from Tulane Medical School, and completed two years of general surgery training and four years of urology residency in the Tulane Affiliated Hospitals. He is board certified in Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He served as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve as a staff urologist at Martin Army Hospital at Ft. Benning, GA for two years. He has been in private practice since then, with a goal of providing excellent, personal urology care to his patients.

Dr. Matthews is a member of the Mississippi State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, and several other medical organizations. As a clinical faculty member, he staffed Tulane Urology Surgery at Charity Hospital in New Orleans for many years until Hurricane Katrina and covered the weekly Tulane clinic at UMCNO from 2006 to 2019. He is on the clinical faculty of William Cary and South Alabama Medical schools, and has students and resident students learning in his office frequently.

Dr. Matthews has been president of two local hospital staffs and has served on many medical staff committees. He has been chairman of the Mississippi State Medical Association Executive Committee.

After hours, Dr. Matthews and his wife follow eight grand children, and Dr. Matthews is a musician.
