Summary of Job:

Administer radiation to a patient in accordance with the plan and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Localizes and treats tumors in accordance to the physician prescription
  2. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient information.
  3. Explains procedures to patient.
  4. Maintains visual/audio communication at all times while the patient is receiving treatment.
  5. Immobilizes patients as necessary.
  6. Utilizes beam devices.
  7. Operates therapeutic equipment (linear accelerator).
  8. Performs simulations.
  9. Performs duties of block room as necessary.
  10. Performs weekly chart quality assurance.
  11. Practices aseptic technique as necessary.
  12. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients.
  13. Observes and reports on clinical progress of patients.
  14. Responsible for image analysis, tattoos, and diode measurements.
  15. Applies principles of basic radiation physics, radiation safety, and radiation protection.
  16. Detects and reports equipment malfunctions promptly.
  17. Accurately maintains patient treatment records.
  18. Assumes responsibility for portions of department quality assurance program as designated by medical physicist.
  19. Assists in controlling inventory and supplies.
  20. Schedules daily patient treatment appointments.
  21. Schedules simulations.
  22. Maintains clean and orderly workspace, including the treatment room.
  23. Follows all policies and procedures and complies with Employee Handbook.
  24. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, and the public.
  25. Responsible for knowing the work schedule, observing work hours, and maintaining a good attendance record.
  26. Maintains confidentiality of all patients.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  1. Required license: Certification in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  2. One + years of relevant clinical experience and general knowledge of radiation therapy delivery.

Job Requirements:

1. Employee must be able to communicate clearly with patients.

2. Employee must be able to keep an organized workflow and effectively manage multiple tasks
at one time.

3. Employee must be able to be active and mobile for an eight hour period
