What is Axonics Therapy?

Axonics® Sacral Neuromodulation Therapy provides gentle stimulation to the nerves that control the bowel and bladder. This type of stimulation can restore normal communication between the brain, the bladder and bowel, which can result in an improvement of symptoms related to an overactive bladder, fecal incontinence, or urinary retention. The Axonics® therapy system is designed to work for up to 15 years in regular therapeutic treatments

How does Axonics® Therapy work?

Through a minimally invasive outpatient surgical procedure, a small neurostimulator implant is placed inside the patient. This device is controlled by a remote control small enough to fit on a keychain, allowing for the Axonics® therapy to be discreetly managed by the patient.

The Axonics® implant has an outstanding battery life, typically only requiring a recharge every 4 weeks. The wireless charging system designed for the Axonics® implant allows users to charge on-the-go - simply place the wireless charger over the implant site for 30 minute to an hour, and it’s good to go! To make it even easier to monitor the implant battery status, the remote control will indicate to users when it’s time to recharge.
